Arvena Montague, dancer

Arvena Montague Prose, Rhythm and Praise

From as early as she can remember, Arvena has danced. Laundrymats, grocery stores and classrooms became dance studios when Arvena arrived. The music in her mind played without restraint and she allowed her body to flow with it.
When it became apparent that attempts to stop Arvena’s public displays of artistry were futile, her mother changed strategies. She encouraged Arvena to dance in every competition, school function and community event hoping that her daughter would “grow out of it.”
Years later, Arvena still hears the melodious tunes that put her in motion. Her unique dances infuse flag, mime, interpretive movements and sign language and she shares that gift with others. She teaches youth groups, praise dancers and individuals about the mechanics and discipline of rhythmic motion. Her instruction includes appropriate attire, song selection, biblical significance and ministry preparation. In 2010, she will host a praise and worship conference to help artists nurture and develop the gift that God has given them.
Arvena and her family attend Revival Center Ministries International (RCMI) in Dayton, Ohio. Arvena has been dancing at RCMI since 1994 and she oversees the church’s dance ministry.
