Donnell Phillips, producer
Donnell J. Phillips does not just love music; he is music. Born to Maretta and Donnell C. Phillips, his introduction as a musician came as a toddler. While in the kitchen enjoying a Gospel-music cassette, Donnell’s mother heard a melody coming from the other room. To her amazement, Donnell—not quite three years old—was playing the same song on his toy piano. Overflowing with joy, she called for her husband to witness the miracle. When he arrived, she rewound the cassette, placed Donnell in front of the piano and started the music. Donnell imitated the melody note-for-note. Amazed and humbled that God had chosen their son, they knew that he was destined for Kingdom greatness and his music ministry was launched.
Without formal training or instruction, God continued to bless Donnell’s gift. He learned how to play keys, lead guitar, bass guitar and drums. His creative composition artistry has touched listeners with awe-inspiring chords and arrangements.
Donnell has impressed audiences of all ages, however as a young performer his style appeals to youth. His energetic, approachable and compassionate demeanor has awarded him recognition as City Musical Talent by the City Commissioner of Youngstown, Ohio. With favor amongst his peers, he wrote and composed songs for several school choirs.
As a musician, Donnell has played for international artists including John Legend, Ciara, Jaheim, Gerald Levert, Estelle, Vaughn Anthony and Ben Tankard. While music is his passion, his focus transitioned to production. At sixteen years old, he produced his first project for his aunt, Monica Phillips. His company—TynMusick Productions—has a discography that includes vocal arrangements, production and instrumentation for a plethora of artists and genres.
Donnell formed and is the music director for BeatFreekxx MusicGroup—a production company consisting of producers, writers and musicians. From pop, jazz, Gospel and R & B, the five-piece band’s eclectic sound is unforgettable.
